from the well-established observation that the protein bound carbohydrate level of blood plasma is elevated in cancerous individuals (28) and the possibility that cancer cells may contribute carbohydrate-containing proteins to the circulation (2, 3, 12, 13). For initial studies we have selected Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells and are using glucosarnine-'4C to label carbohydrate-containing macromolecules both in vivo and in vitro. In this paper are described some of the aspects of this incorporation.
